The Ethical making resource

The Ethical Making Resource provides practical information for jewellers and silversmiths who want to improve the environmental and social sustainability of their practice, and for buyers and collectors looking for information on purchasing ethically made jewellery and silver.

“In the many years across multiple countries I have been addressing ethics in jewellery, Scotland has been the most receptive and fertile country of them all. Scotland has a real chance to become the world’s leading ethical designer maker nation. The ethical practices directory being created by the Incorporation of Goldsmiths will be a world first.”

Dr Greg Valerio MBE

The Incorporation of Goldsmiths has created this Resource in the interest of helping the creative community gain access to clear, concise information about ethical making. We have striven to bring together useful, truthful and accessible information about ethical making. This website is a living document and will change as new information becomes available and progress towards a more ethical future is made. We invite makers to share their feedback so that we can ensure the Resource remains valuable and relevant.
